Active galactic nuclei signatures in Red Geyser galaxies from Gemini GMOS-IFU observations

چکیده
ABSTRACT Red Geysers are quiescent galaxies with galactic scale ionized outflows, likely due to low-luminosity active nuclei (AGN). We used Gemini GMOS-IFU observations of the inner ∼1–3 kpc nine selected from MaNGA survey study gas ionization and kinematics. The emission-line ratios suggest presence Seyfert/LINER (Low Ionization Nuclear Emission Region) in all sources. Two show Hα equivalent width ( EW) larger than 3 Å (indicative AGN ionization) within an aperture 2 ${_{.}^{\prime\prime}}$5 diameter (1.3–3.7 at distance galaxies) for data, while higher resolution GMOS four present EW>3 equal angular (0.3–0.9 kpc). For two objects EW is lower but 1.5 Å, most probably a faint AGN. spatially resolved electron density maps values between 100 3000 cm −3 consistent those determined other studies. large (MaNGA) nuclear (GMOS-IFU) velocity fields misaligned, kinematic position angle difference 12° 60°. [N ii] λ6583 profiles asymmetrical, blue wings on redshifted side field red blueshifted side. Our results support previous indications that by AGN, least their central region, originating precessing accretion disc.

Suzaku observations of ‘bare’ active galactic nuclei
We present an X-ray spectral analysis of a large sample of 25 ‘bare’ active galactic nuclei (AGN), sources with little or no complicating intrinsic absorption, observed with Suzaku. Our work focuses on studying the potential contribution from relativistic disc reflection and examining the implications of this interpretation for the intrinsic spectral complexities frequently displayed by AGN in ...
متن کاملDeep GEMINI GMOS - IFU spectroscopy of BAL QSOs : I . Decoupling the BAL ,
In this work we present the first results of a study of BAL QSOs (at low and high redshift), based on very deep Gemini GMOS integral field spectroscopy. In particular, the results obtained for the nearest BAL IR–QSO Mrk 231 are presented. Very deep three-dimensional (3D) spectra and maps clearly show that the BAL systems i and ii –mainly in the strong “absorption lines” Na IDλ5889-95 and Ca ii ...
متن کاملThe Distribution of Active Galactic Nuclei in Clusters of Galaxies
We present a study of the distribution of AGN in clusters of galaxies with a uniformly selected, spectroscopically complete sample of 35 AGN in eight clusters of galaxies at z = 0.06 → 0.31. We find that the 12 AGN with LX > 1042 erg s−1 in cluster members more luminous than a rest-frame MR < −20 mag are more centrally concentrated than typical cluster galaxies of this luminosity, although thes...
متن کاملRed Active Galactic Nuclei in XMM-Newton/SDSS fields
In this paper we combine archival and proprietary XMM-Newton observations (about 5 deg) that overlap with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey to explore the nature of the moderate-z X-ray population. We focus on X-ray sources with optically red colours (g − r > 0.4), which we argue are important for understanding the origin of the Xray background. Firstly, these systems constitute a significant fracti...
متن کاملThe Host Galaxies and Classification of Active Galactic Nuclei
We present an analysis of the host properties of 85224 emission-line galaxies selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We show that Seyferts and LINERs form clearly separated branches on the standard optical diagnostic diagrams. We derive a new empirical classification scheme which cleanly separates star-forming galaxies, composite AGN-H ii galaxies, Seyferts and LINERs and we study the host...
